Planning for future schooling in leicester.

We have a Charter which outlines ther basic principles of what we want from Education.

The next question is how we apply this to the actual development of new schools in the city. At present the council are looking at the future of Riverside CC which has significant falling rolls and is at risk because it is planned to be rebuilt under PFI. One option they are considering is a rebuilt 3-16 all through school, of the Samworth Academy type.

The council is also considering another new school in the Frog Island area.

If these are going to proceed, what would we want? Is 3-16 a viable solution. How should it be organised? What about adult and community provision?

What sort of Foundation Stage provision would we like to see. What can we learn from the Reggio Emilia experience of developing a curriculum for early years based on creativity?
