Campaigns
FoE
- Biofuels. Abigail the urang-utan appeared in the Mercury and Discworld monthly with a link to the petition (a future romantic engagement between Abigail and the Librarian is anticipated). Malc is getting a First Person column.
- Climate change. FoE are trying to get the Mercury to run a competition for proposals to combat climate change and have put up a £50 prize. Peter Soulsby and David Taylor have been asked to match it.
- Incinerators. 2 planned for the county, proposal to build for a campaign.
- According to Cllr Robert Wann there is a plan for a combined heat and power (CHP) plant to be run on recycled waste - more details needed but should be supported.
- Proposal to get data on vacant properties in order to respond to Brown's housing plan flagged up for a future meeting.
Green Party
- The government are soliciting proposals for eco-towns, so far councils have been backward in coming forward. Leicester situation to be established. (Cllr Phil Gordon is now following this up).
Post Office
- Post Office Users Group (POUG) meeting went ahead. Demos outside WHSmiths at 10am on Sats July 28th, Aug 4th and Aug 11th.

KONP
- Victory! LCC has decided against the UHL PFI deal!
- Keith Vaz has come out against the plans and will be raising questions in Parliament.
- UH Trust to be congratulated on seeing the error of their ways (someone please write a letter).
- LSF notes that the arguments against it were those used by Sally R and congratulates her on her hard work.
Website
- New website now up and running (as of meeting date) NOTE existing users need to RE-REGISTER.
- Events calendar now available, Chris S working on some remaining problems with this.
- Website is staying on the existing server (only £12 a year anyway) and will provide space for other SFs to run their own sites - please publicise.
- Facebook group is now set up, please join it if you're a user (note from KB: all Leicester members (plus Sham) should have admin access so if anyone checks the group please upgrade non-admins).

-The Link is advertising LSF meetings and has the right venue but the wrong time (7pm) - Malc to correct
- Global day of action against Starbucks is Sat Aug 18th, please contact Chris A if you are interested and have any ideas for action.
